Continuing our discussion on how to cultivate a more sustainable life<\/a>, let\u2019s delve into the life-centric part of the equation. What does life-focused mean? What does it mean to make life-focused choices? How does this connect to a sustainable life? Let\u2019s explore!<\/p>\n

In its simplest form, life-focused means that one\u2019s choices and actions are centered around a respect for all living things (ie) animal and human lives. As Jane Goodall<\/a> has said, <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This is a strong statement which may incite an uncomfortable reaction for some; however it serves as a powerful reminder that we are in control of our choices. In the modern world, the products which we buy have been separated from the manufacturing process. It is no longer obvious what goes into producing those beautifully packaged items easily taken from the store shelves. Fast fashion<\/em> and animal agriculture<\/em> are two industries which have skillfully \u2019shielded the consumer\u2019 from the ugliness behind the scenes. <\/p>\n

This lack of transparency has resulted in depriving the consumer of the ability to make an active choice in whether we want to be a part of human or animal suffering. Dr. Goodall reminds us that we have a responsibility to look behind the veil and inform ourselves about the people and animals who are impacted by the items we purchase. This is the definition of a life-centric choice.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
